Too many players on BA Teams
« on: September 24, 2016, 03:49:41 pm »
I  don't know if I'm the only one upset about so many players being on BA teams, but it's not right. We are playing teams that have 8 to 10 players.  It's not fair to the kids, coaches,  and parents. 1st grade has 15 kids per team. I think what shoild be done is they have coaches sign up first and then allow 10 kids per coach sign up. First come first on teams. Everyone else will be placed on waiting list and see if we can get more coaches. This sport isn't cheap and I want my money's worth. You can have the best coaches and it doesn't matter if they have  15 players.

So your saying turn down kids that want to play football cuz most parents don't want to put the time and effort to coach? MMs is about development that's why they don't keep scores. I've had 15 in 1st and it was OK... If a team had the best coaches shouldn't matter how many they have. But more concerned with your thought of turning down kids that want to play a sport!

Are you a coach?

No I am not a coach. What I'm saying is that you have kids who don't want to play and their parents are pushing them to play. 15 kids is too much and it doesn't matter how good of a coach you have. I think they should secure coaches before they start taking sign ups for players. It may be development  but it's about winning for me too.

How is 15 too many when 11 take the field at any given time?

How are teams playing with 8-10?

I agree numbers are crazy and it has been around for way too long in the INFC.   There is no way that a parent would sign up to play to rec baseball if you knew that there would be 18 or 19 kids on the team.  Should be no different for INFC football.  Not fair to the kids, parents, or the coaches.   It was posted (can't find it at the moment) by someone that parent's should get a discount after a certain number is passed.  Not fair to pay full price to play football and most of the kids only get to play 50% of the time.   But, in the end it is all about getting as many kids playing as possible. $  If anyone thinks it is going to change your crazy.

It is all about money!!!! Again, get your coaches in place first and then you will know how many players you should sign up. Then start a waiting list  after you have the 10 to 12 players per team.

Does  any other cities in the INFC allow Kindergartners? Most don't know their left from right and attention span is very small. I've been around for 2 years  now and it definitely seems like it is about money.

When my son played first grade football in BA there was 4 teams, 2 with coaches. So 2 teams actually drafted players and 2 were all randomly picked. We had 15 kids 4 I think kindergarten. We finished the season with 7 kids and our head coach quit half way through. All of those kids quit playing except my kid in 2nd grade. That is what you get with too many kids and not enough coaches. You can close registration or put people on a waiting list pending the finding of a coach.  Or you just take people's money.

It's  apparent they would rather take the money. It just isn't fair. I've heard of some coaches thinking about leaving INFC because of this. There's little to no development going on when you have that many players.

Coaches should be aware of the MM roster limits.  And where would the go if they were to "leave the INFC"?

Per the rule book:

Article 1:
Rosters A. A team must not carry more than 15 players.
The Commissioner may grant a team 16 players should he deem it absolutely necessary. However, two (2) quarterbacks must be utilized during all INFC games.

I don't see how even 16 is a problem at the MM level.  At older ages too many kids is bad.  But at MM, it is 100% about development.  I coached a 8 vs 8 flag team with 16 kids at 1st/2nd grade level.  We platooned them.  Half played offense and half played defense.  Then we flipped them at halftime so the 8 that were offense are now defense, etc...  I don't see how that is a problem at all!!!

Again,  put the kid in Flag Football  for development and especially if they don't know right from left and can't concentrate. Why doesn't  Union's MM play against other teams? I think Union has a MM but they only play other  Union teams and Jenks.  No gate fee. They truly treat their MM teams different.
