Standings?
« on: October 18, 2020, 01:53:06 pm »
Even though I retired at least for a year lol I like to keep up with this group. What is up with the standings? Did they just give up on keeping track?

Pretty much.  I think it is Jenks Silver top of division 1 and Owasso White top of division 2 with Union Silver nipping at their heels.  I could have that reversed.

Big game this week with Owasso White and Sand Springs could clear up this division (2-4) well if Bixby Blue ever decides to play the game with Sand Springs.

I heard SS has reached out to reschedule the game, but BXB Blue wasn’t interested.  Fact or Fiction?

So does Bixby Blue forfeit the game?   Since they won’t play SS.

Standings?

Fact?

Here’s some facts:

BXBB was ready to play on game day. SS chose not to play. By rule, that’s a SS forfeit.

1. Game week SS asks to reschedule because they had somewhere between 3 & 6 kids out due to non-covid related illness (let’s be honest, a key player; QB maybe? Or other)...don’t know for sure number cause the count changed day to day. Would SS let us reschedule if “3-6” of our players were out (rhetorical question not requiring an answer)?

2. They declined to play on game day.

3. Then Wednesday they wanted to make a plea to reschedule the game. Now SS says they had 10-kids out due to covid.

Aside: so which is it - covid or non covid? 3-6 kids, or 10-kids? Get the story straight, SS.

4. Regardless of covid rules expressed with all teams before the season about rescheduling and/or forfeiture, the standing rules applied - SS had more than enough kids to line up and play and they selected not to play - by definition, clear forfeit.

And if covid rules apply, then it’s a forfeit of the next two games (effectively, if the 14-day quarantine runs across two scheduled games, which in this case it would since notification was made midweek).

Oh but, wait; now back to the Wednesday night following the game...SS wanted to claim the 10-kids who were out were due to covid. So if that’s the story they’re going to stick to, then why did they play the week before AND more importantly the following two weeks? If it’s really covid, then they put all the other teams at risk and failed to quarantine.

SO, SS, which is it? Don’t come into the court of public opinion and spread misinformation for the sake of stirring the pot. You had a chance to be honest, play the game, and chose not to - plain and simple. Live with the consequences.

Not stirring the pot just presenting another thought process.
Team played previous in quarantine, (games already rescheduled)
Several players sick (it was more then 3-6 but doesn't really matter if you have to cancel practices to limit exposure)
Practices cancelled to limit exposure and quarantine time
Luckily all test came back negative
Covid sucks and having to wait days for results makes it hard to know you are making the right decisions. Coach made the right call.

Not sure standings are even going to matter this year.  Wouldn’t be surprised if INFC decides to allow every team to play in the playoffs that wants to play.  I guess if the OSSAA will do it, why not youth sports.  Going to be an interesting finish to an interesting season!

A few things: First, Like I said during the weekend it happened...The BxBB SS game was COVID related. Sand springs played Broken Arrow Silver the weekend before and the Union Silver Broken Arrow silver game for that same weekend was postponed due to BA Silver being in quarantine so Sand Springs was supposed to be in quarantine as well. I have been tested twice and it takes anywhere from 3-10 days to get the results. According to INFC, once players and coaches can prove that negative results were given for the players then they can play. There were several games postponed to this week because of covid related quarantines.

As for the reason for this discussion...I keep a running total of standings. I am posting the standings as of this morning but those will change after the games that are schedule for today for BAG vs Bartlesville and BAS vs US. For some reason on INFC's standings they are not including Bixby Red in the Division 1 Standings (highlighted in yellow to show theirs). For Division 2, I don't know how they got Sand Springs Standing of 24 When they lost a point to US and then won 3 games that would be 23. Raider, I know you won't respond even though we support the same team but what do you think?

All valid points and opinions, but what does the INFC say about it?  Or are they staying silent.   It would be a great game.

It would’ve been a great game. INFC/BYFA ruled it a forfeit...BXBB had no say in the matter.

The INFC isn’t going to expand the playoffs. They prefer to keep as many teams as possible in the Post Season tourney as the double elimination format leads to more games and more gate fees collected.
