The saying goes that "Defense Wins Championships." When you look at the teams consistently in the top 10 each week, it holds true that they generally have strong defenses. With that in mind, I'm going to offer my take on the current placing of the top 10 or 12 teams in 6th grade (the top 6 are currently undefeated).

1. Bixby Red (Top until knocked off, have allowed 0 points)

2. TIE - Edmond Bulldogs (second highest scoring, one of only two teams to allow 0 points), Union Silver (scored most in league while allowing 6 points) and TYAA Blue (has allowed 12 points)

5. TIE - Jenks Silver (allowed 16 points) and Bixby Blue (allowed 18 points)

7.  Choctaw Gold (very big, fast and aggressive - allowed 12 points through 4 games before slamming into a tough and prolific Edmond offense)

8.  Owasso White (still a tough team that should make the playoffs in a strong division)

9. Metro Christian (on the move up the division standings after beating SS)

10. TIE - Lincoln Christian (undefeated-allowed 25 points), BA Platinum (undefeated - allowed 18 points) and Westmoore (statement win with shutout over T-wolves)

Other teams receiving "votes:"  Owasso Red, Cascia Hall, Verdigris, Berryhill, Hilldale

Total yards allowed would be a great topic debate if someone wants to go watch all the games and provide those stats.

Ummmm...it is hard enough just pulling schedules from the website for PICKems...but if you have the time to watch every game, we could get some debate going!  😎😎😎😎

Hell I barely have time to watch a little film of our next opponent.  It will be fun come playoff time! You were correct when you said “Defense Wins Championships”!

No one else is going to weigh in? There has got to be some other opinions in 6th grade!

1. Bluedogs- I have them ranked ahead of Bixby Red becuz I think they are hungry and if the 2 played in the regular season Blue would beat Red. Now, playoffs, I may put Red ahead of Blue
2. Edmond- Edmond might have the best Offensive attack in the league. They can score from anywhere on the field. Not the best Defensively but good enough to beat anyone.
3. BXB Red- As I said before if this was playoff time The Red Machine would be my #1 team.
4. Jenks Silver- I think they are overrated here but who else would you put here. The Trojans showed me enough heart in the owasso game to give em #4
5. Mclester- I know I know, but i never would have thought the buffs would in position to make the playoffs. Hard work pays off and im giving them boys and coaching staff sum love.
6 Sand Springs- this is another playoff team. Gotta have defense to win at that time of the year and SS has some. However the O is suspect and I think mclester could beat em
7. Owasso Red- After watching the film, the Red Rams left a lot of plays on the field against the Bluedogs Defense. If they could have turn a couple of those plays ...who knows
8. Metro- I got Metro sitting at 8th only becuz I still knock them for last years AA decision. But make no mistake the Metro Boys can play. Without my 2018 thumbs down they would be in my top 5. Good job Metro
9. Owasso White- This is another team built for the playoffs. #7 just might be the strongest runner in the grade. Only thing is coaching gotta find a way to rest him so that he'll be fresh in the redzone.
10. BXB Blue- President right, President left. Thats all they have but he's dangerous
11. U-Silver - someone said "everyone has caught up to them" really? the most points scored and the defense hasn't give up a point. But hey we will see how it goes these next to weeks against Owasso Red Air raid attack and Bluedogs stout defense.

@raider you’re holding that grudge for a long time #MAGA

1. BXB red-  top spot until somebody figures out how to block #39
2. U silver- after watching film I’m not convinced they might not have the best team. They are a match up problem at receiverand they have a great power run game  Silver has been really good in the past but with the ability to pass now they are a match up problem on defense. Btw their defense can GO!
3. Tyaa blue- great team! Got size and spread everywhere. Fun to watch as long as you’re not their opponent
4.Edmond- after watching film, I love their offense line and defense! They will be a handful in the playoffs. Only thing is playing in the west side, if they get in a close game will their kids be able to handle it? We will see in the playoffs
5. Jenks Silver- really well coached on their D and O lines and are Offensively it’s just not #34 right and left. They try to keep the def off balance in a number of ways. Good job guys!
6. BXB blue- solid team with a GREAT RB! If you’re out of position on def he is scoring. They have one of the best QBs in the league at Fullback SMH they will have a team that can make a run in the playoffs.
7. Metro- I would have put OWhite here but rumor is #7 is out for the year and if true that a game changer because that kid is a real football player! Metro changed their offense to their HS spread system and every week the kids are getting more comfortable in the system. Our kids aren’t scaring anybody at weigh in but they are really coachable and play extremely hard. We tried to put a 4-4 defense in for the first 4 games but we went back to what has worked in the past because we were giving up too many big plays.
8. SS- ummm they ARE scary at weigh in if that team had 23 kids instead of 3000 kids they would be a great team. They got some dudes on defense that can GO!! Offensively they run their HS spread which is very hard to coach with that many players.
9. Choctaw gold- I love watching this team on film. Great middle backer and really love what they are doing on offense. They got hammered by Edmond but they will win the rest of their games.
10. O white- like I said if #7 is healthy they are higher on my list. #7 is a nasty old school throw back player and they have one of the top 5 linemen in the league. That big joker is a handful.

Raider thanks for the additional motivation.  With a key player going down for the year and getting four players off the DL this week or next BXB Red is on a MISSION.  The boys are fresh, motivated, hungry, and angry!  Going to McClain this week to Prep for Playoffs!  Molon Labe!!

1 - Bixby Red - come on...really...watch film
2 - TYAA Blue - nothing has changed, still dominating
3 - Union Silver - multiple play makers on offense and sound defense
4 - Edmond - strong defense and impressive offense, could be higher but only playing in West makes it hard to judge
5 - Jenks Silver - played some tough games but sound all around
6 - Bixby Blue - high scoring offense and speed on defense
7 - Metro Christian - very disciplined team that will be a force in play offs
8 - Choctaw Gold - impressive team with only blemish coming from strong Edmond squad
9 - Owasso White - injury or not this is a good team
10 - Sand Springs - defense may win championships but you have to score. Less kids and they are for sure up higher on the list.

Ahhh...finally some chatter in this 6th grade forum. I love it!

@Raider...you might be correct in saying I wimped out on my 3-way tie at number 2 but I stand by what I posted. One thing you have to understand is that I base my opinions on a variety of sources. I am not actually a coach in this league. For that reason and because I'm not spending my own money for film review, I can ONLY see film of the Edmond Bulldogs games that I already watch in person. In my role as a volunteer action photographer for EYFA, I see almost all of the games of the three 6th grade Edmond teams as well as many of the other grades. Unfortunately, because of the large distance separation between east and west as recently implemented by INFC scheduling, that doesn't help me make judgement calls on most of the east teams. I have to base those assessments on past years' experience with those teams and also from my impressions watching Bixby Red, Bixby Blue, TYAA Blue and Union Silver at the TYAA scrimmages early this year. As a former sports editor, I'm also a numbers cruncher and typically, the numbers don't lie. Another potential source of information is to do a lot of "listening" to what everyone says in the forums which hasn't provided nearly as much to go on this year.

I personally do NOT think there is as much disparity in individual talent and successful teams between the east and the west as some of the biased, east-side opinions on the forums would lead everyone to believe. I think the ratio of really good teams to really bad teams is about the same across the state with the main difference being that there are a hell of a lot more INFC teams in the east (for now). I think the good teams in the west are as good as the good teams in the east while the bad teams in the east are just as bad as the bad teams in the west. (say that sentence really fast ten times)

During the four years I've been involved with INFC, certain teams have traditionally been very good and that can be attributed to one common factor:  good coaching.  The teams that consistently win ALWAYS have excellent coaches. A few in the forums are always talking about how great this kid is on one team or what a stud that team has, but it still boils down to how well the entire team is coached! If all 11 boys on the field aren't working as a team, then one or two outstanding athletes can't carry the game against well coached competition. I've met and talked with a number of the coaches involved with the teams in my top ten and they are all awesome volunteers doing great work with these youth!
