Scrimmages review

Owasso White:  32 is quick he will get to the edge and blow right past you. We can scramble himself and also can throw a nice ball. Team will be tougher than people think

Ba silver:  what are they doing in ba trying to keep 30 kids on a team?  Seems like they should have kept another team on the books. That’s a lot of kids to get 7 plays. I think this willl be ba silvers challenge. What Won’t be a challenge is speed.  They still have Barnett and Earnhardt mix in Dallas and the other running backs up the middle and alll behind a good size line equals trouble for anyone.

Union silver:  7,498 formations and that’s without motion!  Confusion for any defense that plays them and they are going to score on each team they face. Question is can you score more. Qb can launch a ball down field and they use the crossing and under routes well. Quick shifty running back  looks like a new pick up!  and a web that can scramble makes this a challenge for any defense. Oh this is also behind a line that appears to have size. Defense flows to the ball makea this union team a problem.

BA silver- looks good that offense with #3 and #8 in the backfield is nice. Silver also has a WR who can high point the ball really well. I watched their defense vs. Hilldale and I think Hilldale got the best of that matchup. Silver has a fast defense tho I expect them to finish as a top team.

BA Black- nice size football team #21 is a nice pickup to replace Wallace, I was impress with what I saw. Defense flow really well to the ball.

U-Silver- A lot of size with some nice athletes, that RB they have is a playmaker for sure. QB is nice when rolling out passing, this team if they stay healthy will be trouble for some people.

Hilldale- I like what I see they can drive the ball on anyone in this league A or AA. They prove against BA Silver they can push it down anyone throat. Lack speed on defense but game management and pounding everyone down will have this team in the playoffs in AA.

Bixby Red- have to stay away from the injury bug. They run to the ball on defense that 2 week break will be huge for these guys to get healthy.

Checotah- this team will be in the AA championship I’m calling it now. They have some speed on this squad, this my second favorite team.

Bishop Kelley - Had a good group of boys that played hard and had a well rounded team that that flowed to the ball well. Work on containing the edges and the defense will be solid. Lots of players to keep fresh kids on the field.

Metro - They have a very solid line and I saw them penetrating and getting to the backs several times. Tough nose guard that will hit the center in the mouth. #8 played great at outside linebacker. Offensively they threw the ball about every down and threw it well. Their QB seems to be able to run or pass.

Sequoyah - Looked Solid on both sides of the ball. Better make sure your linebackers can scrape through lead blockers and wrap up. I expect this team to only get better as the season goes on, very solid.

Jenks Maroon - Looked really good flowing to the ball and they take the edges away really good as well. Linebackers fill holes quick and they seem to be a lot better than last year. I would like to see more of them before I start picking them to win games after the season they had last year. I would like to see them without coaches behind them guiding them through scrimmages. They look like they have improved a lot from last year though. Should be a fun team to watch.

Owasso Red - #2 Was very fast and was reading the field very well. #7 is probably one of the best Read Option QBs I have seen in this league. Both looked good and they flowed well on defense like always. Seemed to throw the ball well too, just need to catch the ball and it will open up a whole new dynamic to their offense. Once they get their line kinks worked out then they are going to be very tough.

Catoosa - Lots to work on.......... Looked good and when we got tired we looked sloppy so need to double the reps in practice and keep at teaching them their assignments. Seemed like we were doing well on both sides of the ball, but I saw a lot of missed blocks and unfilled assignments that need to get cleaned up, but we got a lot of reps for our new kids.

I think everyone at the scrimmages got a good look at their team and a better understanding of what they need to correct gking into game 1.

Is there any way to look up win/loss records and scores for INFC teams from the previous year? I apologize if it’s a stupid question, I’m new to this.

Not that I’m aware of, but you can go back and look at the 5th grade weekly pick’ems from last year and usually we keep the records on the pick’ems.

So this is my 1st year in INFC. Choctaw had 2 leagues in years past. 1 joined INFC a few years ago and then both decided to merge and be ONE which I think will be good overall all for our football community.

Getting to see Stillwater Edmond and Norman at our scrimmage this past weekend was good because our old league we played some of the same kids since 1st grade so
Just some new faces was fun. Gotta say west gets NO LOVE on here but thats ok we can just come out and earn it each week.

Edmonds got some good size kids #6 has some good speed and they had some hawks in the secondary.

Stillwater blue QB can move in the pocket and they sell a fake well they can gain yards if youre eyes arent ready. They too did well in pass coverage.

I didnt get to see Stillwater gold or Norman Tigers so cant comment on them.

Just excited to see what Choctaw Gold can do this season. I know we are workin hard and the boys are growin each week. Wishin yall some good seasons this year!

Not scared Strat.   You know I usually speak my mind.  Just didn’t think anything I said was of relevance.  It’s been hard but good transition for us to go from Jenks White after 5 years under the same head coach to making a change. Much respect for the kids and coaches on Jenks White.   You guys looked good.  That one kid that was tall and fast was hard to stop.  You will have a good season.  This Jenks Maroon team is much different than last year.   Still have to prove it.  They added 4-5 kids that are veterans. (4-5 yrs playing). 3 new kids are in top 4 fastest on the team.  I enjoyed watching them play so much last night.    My son scored his first touchdown ever. Just want him ready for 8th grade ball.  Good luck to you guys!

YellowJackets2k25 - Its not that any of us are deliberately trying to keep the love from you guys, it’s just we hardly get to see any of the West teams play. Last year we got an idea of a few teams, but not enough to really be able to know players, coaches, or organizations well enough to speak about them. This year it seems there are a couple teams who have splits and now it makes it even harder for us to write about them. Time will make its mark on you guys and we will have a better understanding. I know you all are talented and well coached just as any other team in this league, but lack of being around these teams for 6 years has made it tough to pass that love on is all. 👊👊

24mom13 - You guys looked good and I know how hard it is to have 2-3 players be on your team and it’s their first year. All the talent in the world and speed, but they’re so confused with everything on the field because of rules and assignments and techniques. Everything overwhelms them and it takes awhile to develop them. My best advice is Take is slow and don’t rush them in because they’re easily broken of confidence if pushed too hard at first to carry certain aspects of the team. Your squad looked good and were definitely a different team than last year. I expect you guys to start really meshing more and coming together by mid season to the end of season. Catoosa also had a lot of mistakes that need to be corrected, but the boys did play hard and we appreciate the kind words.

Transitioning from one team to another can be tough, but sometimes it’s best for everyone and helps both situations whatever that may be.

Good luck in the season and I’ll definietly come check you guys out when I get a chance.
