Staying vs moving
« on: September 23, 2022, 10:55:40 pm »
This a legit post not a end a Sapulpa four post,
I’m looking at my kid, excels at football, wrestled for 2 years and have 2 state champs and one runner up. Tip 5 Nationally ranked baseball team. When I see kids move out of our school district to another why is that decision made? I weigh football and wrestling they interlink timeframe which in a big school takes you out of both fall sports. Then we cross over to baseball in the spring which wrestling overlaps some. I want my kid to experience multiple sports excelling at all 3. This envokes the big school small school arguement, I don’t see the benefit going 6A. Does anyone else with a kid that’s a multi sport athlete see something different?

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same?
Nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain, ooh yeah
Love is always comin', love is always goin'
No one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walkin' away
If we could take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin' in the cold November rain
Do you need some time on your own?
Do you need some time all alone?
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you?
Oh, oh, oh
Sometimes I need some time on my own
Sometimes I need some time all alone
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, oh yeah
I know that you can love me when there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness, we still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever, even cold November rain
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody

I've set back and thought about this same thing.. my kiddo has wrestled before he even looked at a football..  I wrestled when I was younger then moved to a smaller school that had no wrestling program at all which honestly drive me crazy.. as a parent now, I look at it like wrestling, your only going to be as good as people you wrestle.. that being said, with wrestling, I took my kiddo out of the school program and got him into team tulsa wrestling because there wasnt anyone, including older kiddos for son to practice with, he would always have to take it easy and work the other kids and get nothing from it..  Some parents dont think the coaching, or sport programs are right for there kid so they move to another school.. Football is kind of the same, but it's also the most team sport there is.. Yes that one stud kid can make and difference, but with a good team he could look even better.

If your son is good enough, he could play football, wrestle, and play baseball at a 6A school. That’s the reality. If he’s good enough. But if he’s not at a top level in the state at any one of the 3, it won’t be an option to play whichever is the lesser of the 3 unless he’s at a smaller school with less talent.

So it begs the question, is my son good enough? I’m also not being a jerk by saying any of this. My son plays football, basketball, and baseball. He may be able to play all three as an 8th grader, possibly 9th, but unless he takes another step into that rarified air, past 9th grade he better be a top talent to continue in multiple sports. Just how it is! And last I checked, Glenpool is growing population wise. They have lost some stud athletes over the recent years but that happens everywhere when the 6A recruiters come calling.

Off topic kinda, but partially it affects it. If Glenpool would petition the county commissioner to build an overpass over 141st(similar to 151st), Glenpool would actually explode with regards to the amount of people willing to move that far south. They’re screwing themselves by keeping that stop light active there. Main artery out of Tulsa to the south and you have to stop at a freaking stoplight. Be like going northbound on 75 from Dallas and having to stop at a stoplight in Sherman.

BK,
The choice for us was made solely on the quality of the education.
Big school means less one on one with teachers, but lot more opportunity.
Little school is more one on one quality teaching but less options.
Remember education is forever sports are not.
