Playoffs Round 2 Pick’ems!
« on: November 02, 2018, 09:56:14 am »
Thought I would throw out a round 2 Playoff Pick’ems, feel free to give your thoughts and what you think.

TYAA Blue (8-1) @ Grove (7-1) - This is a tough one to pick. Grove has been off for a couple weeks and I’m not sure how that is going to affect them. They have a good RB a couple nice linemen and they can throw the ball around too. TYAA Has Selfridge who is use to winning in big games, they also have a lineman that has a motor on him and when he goes he is tough to handle. TYAA has lost some players from over the years, but they have also been playing good ball lately. Grove played Muskogee and beat them 20-0 and I don’t know the whole story, but they won nevertheless. I don’t think Muskogee would show up and do anything to hand a win over to Grove at all, but I do know at this age kids do play with their emotions. We see teams every week winning big then coming out the next week flat. I do believe Muskogee was most likely playing with less emotion in that game, but that doesn’t take away from Grove winning 20-0. They showed up, played, and got the W and that’s all that matters. I’m picking this game 12-7 Grove.

Jenks Silver (6-2) @ Owasso Red (7-2) - Can’t take away the fact that Owasso Red has played some great football since they played Bixby Blue. #2 has the speed and mental ability to beat Jenks Silver. #7 does a great job at controlling the ball game and defensively Owasso Red has been playing great as of late. Jenks Silver has been inconsistent this year. Winning over Grove 24-0 then losing to BA Black. If they want to win this game then they will need that team that beat Grove 24-0 to show up. They have a RB that can go down after down carrying the ball without turning it over, but they don’t have a RB that can get to the end zone when he finds an open hole. Taking Owasso Red here 21-8

Catoosa (8-2) @ Sequoyah (9-0) - Two teams that no one wants to see on their schedule, but not consistent enough over the years to be a contender. Catoosa still has consistency problems, but it seems Sequoyah has turned it around this year finishing their season 9-0 with that power offense they run. Catoosa just needs to show up and play ball like they’re capable of doing every game every quarter. I am taking my boys here to win 19-14.

Bixby Blue (8-2) - Choctaw Gold (9-0) - This is it West Side, your last chance to step up and earn that respect. I think the West Side teams have done a great job and I’m glad they got a feel of the playoffs. Bixby Blue is a consistent team and they play the same ball week in and out so I expect them to do no different here and get the win. They have a couple really good elusive backs that once they get to the edge they’re gone. They run an offense that really makes the defense have to pay attention to the ball and do your assignment. I have Bixby Blue winning this game 21-6

Good luck everyone, should be some great games going on this weekend.

I think TYAA's luck is going to run out against Grove as they have to rely on the big play. Grove just needs to play disciplined and physical and not give up that big play, which is easier said than done even on 4th down and forever. :o Just pound the ball and catch them napping with a pass play or two. Watch that deep safety over the top if you go long, though. Grove might want to keep their eyes on that long ball being thrown on them as well. We witnessed that first hand a couple of times in our game unfortunately. Grove 20-7

Owasso Red with the win here. But it will be close. Owasso 13-6

Sequoyah is the real deal Strat, but you already know that. They are gonna hit you, then hit you some more and when you start to get up, they just might hit your boys again. A very physical team....my kinda team! You beat this team by spreading them out and throwing the ball. Unfortunately, Catoosa can't do that. Sequoyah 28-0

Bixby Blue is probably the most prepared team in the league. They've done the same thing since 3rd grade. Do what you do and do it well is their motto. West Side wins here. Bixby 26-6
Go Bulldogs!

Tyaa vs. Grove- Tyaa gets the W here it will be close but Tyaa boys know how to win big games and are playing for a trip to the championship game. The X factor in this game will be cash and bus for Tyaa blue. They will need to have a big game and I expect them too. Chief will do what he do best and that is make plays when needed. Blue 20-6

Sequoyah vs. Catoosa- Eagles keep rolling into the semifinals, this the kinda game the eagles enjoy playing and they will flex their muscles this weekend. Catoosa can keep it close but I don’t see them winning. Prove me wrong!

Owasso vs. Jenks- Jenks switch their offense up a little bit in the first playoff game but you could tell it’s something they wasn’t comfortable doing. Back up QB seem to have a nice arm but in 3rd in long they favorite passing play is still the HB pass. Owasso will spread you out and either run 2 or 7 not really going deep for a pass but may throw a out route. Owasso #2 will be the X factor if he get out in space they win this. But Jenks have a shot of winning it.  12-8 Jenks

Bixby blue vs. Choctaw- Bixby a really discipline team but honestly have struggled with the more dominant teams. This weekend they keep rolling and get that rematch with the eagles.

Very true, probably a game we shouldn’t even be in. Kind of like last year when we played them, but I think we did ok then and I think we will do ok now as well. It most definitely will be a physical game, but don’t think that’s going to be 1 sides.

Tyaa Blue @ Grove - i like that Grove has been putting it down especially the last few weeks. As everyone has said TYAA finds that ability to win... While they were perfect this season they definitely know what it takes in playoffs to get to the ship...i dont see that changing. Grove keeps it close 13- 6 Bluedogs win.

Catoosa at Sequoyah - Catoosa dropped some games this season and Sequoyah didnt. I think Catoosa definitely has a chance here but Sequoyah squeaks by. 14-12 Eagles

Jenks Silver at Owasso Red - I called O-Red as 1 seed in week 8. I think they have no problem winning this game. I think Jenks is too banged up and O-red is hungry to win. Rams win 22-12.

Bixby Blue at Choctaw Gold - UPSET ALERT I know we've all worked hard to get here. I know the west has had a bad rap but each grade has a couple West side teams making noise and its time for 6th grades West show up. the westside experiment is working. Bixby has some solid players (#4/#33/#12/#43) and really do look discipline but not unbeatable at all. We've worked hard all week to prove eastside wrong. Our guys have the tools and knowledge to win this game. Now its time for action. Yellowjackets win 20-8.

Speaking of Bixby #33 I really enjoy watching that kid play. He will put that red face mask into your chest.

Dana White and the UFC missed out on an opportunity to put Catoosa and Sequoyah on pay per view tomorrow night. I’d pay $49.99 to watch that street fight. Two great teams who just punch you in the mouth. This game could go either way and I’d be surprised if it doesn’t come down to the last possession. Going agaist the grain. Much respect for both programs.
Catoosa 18
Sequoyah 13

Grove v TYAA Blue- Haven’t watched either team this year. I know the GEE is a top 3 team and Grove won that. Too high on the GEE to pick against a team that beat them. TYAA are champs and know how to win. Going with the Ridgerunners 21-12

Owasso Red v Jenks Silver- O Red is rolling. Red Rams 24-14

BXB Blue v Choctaw- Choctaw has done the west side proud. Solid team and well coached. Bixby Blue doesn’t wow you on film and watching them walk to weigh in makes you scratch your head. After the ball is kicked off they will make you pull your hair out. Fast and physical, sound and disciplined. Blue Sparta rolls on 21-0

@when does baseball start
Come on out to Sequoyah tomorrow night and save yourself $44.95, I'm sure we'll both put on a show for you. However, if you want to pay $49.95 in sure the gal at the gate will take it off your hands. :)

@in the trenches- I would love to but my 4th grade son is in the playoffs too! That’s why I need pay per view as do a lot of people. I truly love what both of these teams are about and as a fan of the game, it’s just great football. I don’t care who wins but it’s a game that the masses need to see played! Best of luck! On a side note, I would prefer to pay my $5 and watch it in person
