Final 5-ish
« on: November 06, 2022, 07:28:47 am »
Tyaa travels to Edmond after a good win against Bixby White; the winner will face Jenks Maroon.

Maroon managed to make it out of Muskogee with a win.

Silver handled Stillwater with ease.

Claremore edged out a win over Glenpool.

Play-in spot:

TYAA will be tougher than many people think; especially against the run, they have shut down offenses that thrive on it. They are big and fast and tough. But they better stop putting the $&@! Ball on the ground and figure that ?!$& out before Monday! One dimensional though. Little passing. Have they completed many? I know the Bulldogs love the bone, so it will never die as long as Coach Harper and his disciples remain in the youth program.

Edmond has been on a LOOONNG… layoff.
They are fresh for sure, or are they rusty?
We Know NastyPass and HelloPress have been chomping at the bit to get back on the field… err sideline… err stands… whatever the case, we know how excited they are to get back out there.

This will be the toughest game they’ve had all year to this point. The pride of Oklahoma west of  OK-99 rides on this, can their 13 year old shoulders carry the burden? We will find out soon enough.

Uptake-
Edmond 20
Tyaa 13

Next up for Edmond will be the other Maroon squad from the East. Stepbrothers to the 2x champs, they’ve been somewhat solid, I GUESS? maybe even salty (low sodium) in years past, but they’ve never looked “completely put together” in my opinion. Like at all. They have speed from what I’ve seen and they also work towards the football well on D, but do they have enough offense to attack the mighty Bulldogs from Edmond? Their line is small and look average at best. Like C- - or almost a D.

If this game happens, it’s a tossup for me. I think they are sort of clueless about their identity based on film… or maybe their well-rounded, renaissance romantics that like to show versatility and vitality. Nah, probably not. Gut says…Edmond

Uptake-
Edmond 24
Jenks 20

And on the other side of the bracket…

The Zebras from Claremore dispatched a tough opponent in last nights late game, what a battle!? Quick history of the Claremore mascot; it has nothing to with a backwoods safari or an eccentric petting zoo for the Rogers County elite. In 1920, the newly formed team in Claremore was known as the “preps” but that was short-lived. Upon receiving their uniforms, the stripes were vertical NOT horizontal and thus they were put down by their opponents who said,” you look like zebras.” That was embraced by the hardheaded toughies of Rogers County and their mascot was changed.
Their original uniforms were purple and gold, and I have no clue (nor do GAF) why they changed to red and white… I can assume it’s money-usually is.

I digress- these bullies are coming in rolling up their sleeves and throwing their fists. If they can’t beat you between the whistles they’ll mug you, maim you, and call your mama names. But they have to face the big boys…

That’s right, last but not least we have…….

THE REIGNING, THICK A$$ ROLL CARRYING, 33yd FIELD GOAL KICKING, 2X CHAMPION OF THE INFC… put your hands together for Oklahoma’s SILVER SPOON PLATOON!!!

Jeeenks… SILVER!!!

What can you say? What can you NOT say about these guys? They came from humble beginnings of moderate wealth and turned that $hit into REAL MONEY. Legacy $hit! Speaking of legacy it doesn’t hurt to have a Calmus on the team…

They lost #9 and the world immediately crowned Bixby White Champions. That was weird. And it isn’t aging well at ALL! Never has been about one kid, but whatever.

This team is solid and disciplined. And I mean disciplined. It’s an amazing coaching job and obviously a tremendous group of kids. BUT…

2-0 vs TYAA what’s going on there? And what happened in the Collinsville game for JVDong slapper to get so butt-hurt?  Is he still in Witness Protection?

Claremore will be tough, hard hitting, mean and nasty. They play like they did in the good ol days, you know the First World War. Jenks will be as ready as they can be but if they don’t establish themselves early I can see the Zebras beating up the true preps a bit. #17 is no joke! He will punch your mom and force your dad to make a life choice.

Jenks is too organized, tough up front, and disciplined in the secondary. Their O Line is big and strong, they have Legit prospects on their line that can handle the pressure. And they like to put kids on their backs too. Pancakes are plentiful.

Best breakdown I've seen all year. IMO once you get down to the final 4, any of those squads have a legit chance of winning it all. Gonna be fun to watch, don't know that we've ever had a year with this many true contenders.

Great breakdown...and funny!

A couple of nuggets (pearls...whatever your cliche) of wisdom in there that I especially agree with:  1) TYAA will certainly be Edmond's toughest test to date. 2) The most disciplined team will win it all! (it has nothing to do with which team has a stud or who supposedly has older players)

Oh...and I'm always on the sidelines, but I'm the big guy with the big lens (that's what she said?). If you ever see me at a game, be sure to come say hello and let me know who you are in the forum!

We’ve played them all except Edmond. What stands out to me is the discipline of Silver. You can change your sets, change formations, they are so disciplined they don’t get out of position. They are the most frustrating team we have played over the last several years. Don’t give up the big play , always there for the tackle, great pursuit. I know I’ve picked Edmond to win it but honestly it’s a toss up between the two. Silver is extremely disciplined and well coached

My breakdown.

Edmond vs TYAA - I can see TYAA setting the tone early by being their most physical opponent yet but I think Edmond comes out on top because Edmond will adjust and take care of business. Edmond- 16 TYAA -7

Jenks maroon vs Edmond - I think maroons line stands no chance against Edmonds and on top of that have to contain 22. Edmond- 28 jenks maroon 6

Claremore vs jenks silver- jenks silvers O line Will 4-5 yard them to death. Defense wise I think silver will come in with a great game plan to contain all their speed

Dukes, great breakdown EXCEPT for the tired dig about the age of some Edmond Bulldogs players.
It’s crazy that nobody questions a kid like #77 with Jenks Silver or a kid that is capable of kicking a 40 yd fg. I mean, how many 12 yr olds can do that and how many kids do you see that are 6’ 230 and can move really well?! Those types of kids are very few!
I’ve seen all those boys play and I won’t get on here and water down the obvious work that a player  has put in to become a great kicker at such a young age or a kid that’s a beast on the field that the coaches probably saw great potential and have coached him up!
Time to start realizing there’s quality football being played at a high level at other places besides Tulsa.

TYAA vs Edmond: TYAA will be ready, but not ready enough. Edmond is loaded, and coming off a 2 week break, they will be hungry. I think 22 is too much for TYAA, and Edmond rolls to a 14 point victory.

Edmond vs Jenks Maroon: Maroon has had a great season to this point, but that ends here. Jenks Maroon has some good skill players, but Edmond matches that athleticism plus some. I think Edmond takes this one by a couple scores.

Jenks Silver vs Claremore: Claremore traded punches with Glenpool, and found a way to win. They will need to play better to stop Silver. I think Silvers line proves to be too much, and their defense holds Claremore’s RB in check on their way to a 2 TD victory.

Edmond vs TYAA:  Unfortunately this isn't the TYAA teams of years past that is a dominant force in the grade.  Edmond rains fire on TYAA and has the game finished by halftime so make sure your'e watching your play count HelloNasty!  35-0 at Half.

Until Tuesday this is the only pick'em for me.
