Scrimmage Thoughts/Notes
« on: August 17, 2019, 04:11:38 pm »
Anybody want to compare notes?

Here is what I have through the 2 scrimmages......

*McAlister- #7 has an arm #8 is very good running back and #18 is speedy.

*South Tulsa- really fast defense backs

*Verdigris- still a work in progress

*Jenks Black- pretty scrappy team for a bunch of first year players. Tall D-end likes to grab helmets (maybe a few flags thrown at that spot)

*Owasso White- big mean d-line, especially in the A Gaps

*Bixby Blue- #13 on the o-line and #27 RB are studs

*Jenks Maroon- offensive backfield is awesome. #98 WILL smash your players. #5... well, you ain’t catching him. #13 and #10 are icing on the cake.

*Pryor- great gang tackling

*LC- Stud QB and a ginormous giant kid on the line!

I’m excited to sit back and watch some good football this year!

I don’t know about the “debacle in Owasso”, maybe it happened before we got there. But here is my limited breakdown of the 8pm Owasso scrimmages.

Catoosa, Aggressive defense, and hard running ball carriers. Good mix of size and speed in the backfield.

Sequoyah, Defense pursued well, and I like what they were doing in offense. Solid ball carriers, and they connected on some nice passes.

South Tulsa, We didn’t scrimmage them, but from what I saw they had a lot of athletes and played fast and aggressive.

Hilldale, Very aggressive swarming defense. Their d-line fires out quick. Whole team hustles to the ball. Didn’t get to see their offense.

Glenpool, Ran an offensive clinic on our defense. They will be tough to stop, they have speed, and size in the backfield. Definitely pointed out a number of things we need to work on. Didn’t see their defense. But I’m certain it’s gonna be just fine.

BA Platinum, We got lined up correctly most of the time. Made a couple plays on both sides of the ball. Still have a ton of work to do...

Nice breakdowns guys!  I will give what I seen yesterday a crack as this was my first time to lay eyes on these teams in a year.

8 pm set

Glenpool - What else would you expect from these guys?  I haven't personally had a team line up against a team from Glenpool since we lined up against Glenpool White in 2nd grade. Well, let me tell ya folks I am happy that last night was the only time we will see Glenpool as our opponents this year. 1st off those coaches are some of the absolute best in this grade or in INFC period. What they lack in size they more than make up for  with their speed and aggressive, tenacious defense! They flow to the football with the best of them and #2 can come play for me right now if Glenpool wants to do a sign and trade lol. Kid was knocking people on their butts and helping them up almost as quick. Class acts all the way around. We were finally able to find some success on certain things but, honestly I was just happy to see how we stacked up against them. Iron sharpens iron and you can't sharpen your team any better than lining up against these guys. They looked good on offense as one would expect but, you could tell they kept things rather vanilla knowing that there were people in attendance waiting to see what they would show. Thanks for the hard hitting session boys. I would have to think that you surely helped our boys walk away better having experinced it. One of the 3 best teams that I seen all day for sure.

About to have a coaches meeting so, I will come back and edit this post to finish this up later today guys.

Continued...

BA Platinum - We ran defense against these guys and as usual I was very impressed with the way these coaches had these boys ready to play. These boys were quick! They ran their offense very well and they were very efficient in doing so. Had some pass plays that will surely be more efficient as they get more reps under their belt which will in turn make defending them that much more of a nightmare. In terms of preparation these coaches are up there with the best of them and when I talk about preparation I don't necessarily mean the focus is on your team but, more so on their own. They are going to be themselves and make you have to stop them. #22 & #44  are legit! Very impressed! As usual class acts all the way around and I think they will give a lot of people fits.  Best of luck the rest of season coaches!

Catoosa - We ran offense against these guys. Coach Brown has these boys ready to go! I don't know if there have been any coaches in this grade that have progressed a team over the past few years as much as he has this Catoosa squad. He is 2nd to non e as far as his knowledge of this grade and he definitely knows the strengths of his team. In turn he maximizes his boys talents by utilizing them exactly where they need to be. Good speed all over the field and not afraid to attack on defense. Not to be a broken record but, these guys are class acts all the way around as well. Definitely think they can line up with most and give you fits. Much respect to these guys and best of luck this season.

South Tulsa - We ran defense against these guys. 1 word..... Potential!  This team has a lot of it. Depending on how well they can tighten everything up will determine on if they end up fighting for a playoff slot in that division.  They definitely have the skill on offense and defense to get the job done in AA but, they still have some progress (as we all do) that needs to be made. They have a stud playing for them at Safety that play for my team last year and they appear to be utilizing him correctly. Coaches seem to have a good grasp on what they want and need to do but, the boys just need a little more reps to perfect it. Those coaches done a great job and it was awesome to mix it up with them last night. They represented their club very well and I have no doubt these guys are going to be a tough out all year long. Best of luck to you guys going forward.

Sequoyah - We did not run against these guys this set. 1 word comes to mind when watching them.... Fiesty! What these guys lack in size they make up for with heart. #14 is a pretty good little ballplayer and #60 (I believe) seems to be the same. These guys ended up beating us last year in the postseason tournament giving us our 1st loss against Sequoyah in 3 meetings. These coaches have done a phenomenal job with these boys and I personally have this year's regular season match up circled on my calendar. They definitely have my attention and if their arrow continues to trend upwards they are going to be a tough out all year this year in AA. Best of luck to guys this season.

I will give my breakdown of the 6 pm session today or this week. Need to get some Pick Em's started but, I have a Fantasy Football Draft at 6. As usual this is the time of year we live for over so, I am looking forward to talking to you guys that I don't already talk to all year long. Best of luck to you all this season. By the way Tyaa only has 1 team? Isn't that some sort of cheat code.... Lol if it ain't it should be! #demboysgood
