OKC 1 & 2
Choctaw Blue @ Norman (Non Division) (Norman)
Choctaw Gold @ Choctaw White (Non Division) (Choctaw White)
Piedmont Gold @ Edmond Maroon (Edmond Maroon)
Edmond White @ Yukon Red (Yukon Red)
Bethany @ Moore (Bethany)
Piedmont Blue vs Yukon White (Non Division) (Piedmont Blue)
D1 TUL
Jenks Maroon @ BA Chrome (Jenks Maroon) Jenks is one of those teams that is just going to keep getting better week in and week out. I know that is everyone's goal, but these guys have the ability to be a pretty solid team. I expect BA to put up a fight.. This will be a good look for both teams, but I have to go with Jenks here.
Bixby Blue @ Tyaa Blue **GOTW 1**(Bixby Blue) This game is one of 2 massive matchups in Week 2. Tyaa Blue has the defense to give Bixby fits. I don't forsee this being a runaway, but if it is I think that means everything went good for Bixby. I just feel that Bixby has the ability to score in a variety of ways. If Tyaa has added anything extra to what they are doing offensively there is no doubt that they have the studs to play with Bixby tho. IMO this game comes down to schematics and right now schematically Bixby Blue is at an elite level in this grade. Ultimately this should tell us all exactly where both teams stand. One thing for sure is Tyaa Blue doesn't back down from any challenge and as a fan of these kids I personally would gladly pay money to watch it live.
BA White @ Glenpool (Glenpool) This game is will be a good look for both teams early on. The Ol HC for Glenpool will be missing this one, but he leaves the team in great hands with AG, GC, and Co. I have lined up against this BA White team as much as any team in our grade and I have a great respect for them and their coaching. I just think Glenpool took another step this year and what BA likes to do falls right in line with what Glenpool is good at defensively. Should be a fun one. I predict Melo, Kingston, and Hunter to have a big game on both sides of the ball.
McAlester @ Owasso Red (Owasso Red) After earning a Week 1 win via forfeit over South Tulsa I am sure Owasso just wants to play a game. This should be a fun game for both teams. I got Owasso in a hard fought vame.game
Tulsa Yellowjackets @ Stillwater (Stillwater) Not sure if last week's forfeit was a 1 time thing or if South Tulsa didn't field a team this grade. I had heard there were some issues. Either way I got Stillwater and I hope they all get to play.
D2 TUL
BA Silver @ Bartlesville Blue (Bartlesville Blue) IMO last week's win over Jenks ks Silver by Bville Blue was a playoff eliminator. Those 2 teams along with Claremore should be duking it out for the #3 spot in D2. If one of them could pull out a W against BA Gold or Bixby Red then the sky is the limit.
Collinsville @ SS Gold (Collinsville) This is a good match-up for both teams. If Collinsville's HC is also their High School HC as I was told then I expect these guys to make a little noise by seasons end.
Jenks Silver @ BA Gold (BA Gold) Tough draw for Jenks getting these 2 games back to back at the beginning of the season. I expect them to be a better team in a few weeks. BA Gold is still waiting on that QB to get healthy. This one isn't a gimme by no means, but especially not fully healthy. In the end I think BA just has too much speed in the right places. It will give them a good look tho.
Owasso Black @ Bixby Red (Bixby Red) Owasso is going to fight the good fight, but Big Red is on a mission. A good showing by Black will go a long way towards getting the season trending upwards tho.
Skiatook @ Claremore (Claremore) Claremore has all the ability to make some real noise in D2. Never seen the score from their last game, but they have been trending upwards since winning the PST last season. To have lost so many players over the past years Skiatook is still kicking it and fighting hard. I will be curious to see the final of this one.
D3 TUL
Bartlesville White @ Muskogee (Muskogee bounces back over dropping what some may call a shocker against Coweta Black. #34 from Bartlesville White is a STUD! I would make a trade for him on Madden lol.
BA Black @ Ft Gibson (Ft Gibson) After a dominating performance in Week 1 vs a good SS Black team Ft Gibson has to stay focused on BA Black with a HUGE match-up against LC looming next week. I don't look for Ft Gibson to have any issues remaining focused with Forrest and their coaching staff tho. I am excited for the one next week tho. That's gonna be money dude!
Coweta Black @ Union Silver (Coweta Black) I went back and forth on this one. I am pulling for Coach Smalls on this one, but they just got put in one hell of a Division. If Silver can pull it off it would be impressive. I feel like last weekend's win over Muskogee was Coweta Black taking that next step I felt they were going to take last year.
LC @ Tyaa Red **GOTW 2** (Tyaa Red) I will be curious to see how LC matches up dude for dude with Red. As I often say as a fan of these kids I would live to watch this one live. I feel like LC is extremely well coached and therefore I would not be completely shocked if they pulled this one out. With that being said I feel like Red is extremely well coached and just so happen to have 3 of the best players in the grade. I felt like Red was the best team I seen all year last year and I still feel that way about last year when all teams were healthy. That being said I think this year is much more debatable with the way a few teams look. If you are looking for something to do head on over to Booker T to watch this doubleheader. You won't be disappointed.
SS Black vs BYE (SS Black) SS Black shuts ofd the clock early in this one.
AA 1 & 2
Catoosa @ Bixby White (Bixby White) After playing Sapulpa who I have as the favorites in AA this year to within 1 score Bixby White is just trying to get back to full strength (which they were not in that game). This game should help them get back on track. Catoosa will not lay down, but Bixby is just too much.
Holland Hall @ Coweta White (Holland Hall) Holland Hall looked amazing last week against Union Red. Putting up 4t puts all while pitching a shutout is super impressive. These guys have speed everywhere. I hear the Coweta White/BK game was settled on a Kick Return for a TD with 5 secs left. That tied it up and obviously BK got the extra pt. Not sure if that is 100%, but that is what I hear. In any instance #24 for White is a stud. Not sure if it is enough to upset HH tho.
Bishop Kelley @ Hilldale (Non Division) (Hilldale) Always roll with my boys. I just hope we have a better showing and clean up some minor issues from Week 1. We can't leave that many points on the Board or have them wiped out by penalties. BK is going to be a tough out no doubt.
Metro Christian @ Berryhill (Non Division) (Berryhill) This one is a toss up for me after last week. I am by no means counting Berryhill out of the AA race, but I almost went Metro here as I think they are really solid team after having lined up with them a week ago. I am just not sure if what Berryhill likes to do offensively isn't Metro's kryptonite. This one has my full attention as I am a big comparative score guy. It doesn't always give you a true look, but in most instances it can get you close. This one almost got GOTW for me.
Sapulpa @ Union Red (Non Division) (Sapulpa) Union Red fights hard and they got a couple of good little players. They are just outmatched in this one by what are my favorites to win AA at this point.
Verdigris @ Rejoice Christian (Non Division) **AA GOTW** (Verdigris) What a win to start the season for Coach Robbie and co. The Dirty Birds team was 2 handfuls a year ago and they seem to be even better this year. Throwing up 12 and blanking Berryhill who was on everyone's shortlist to potentially win AA was an eye opener. Verdi will not be sneaking up on anyone else tho (not that they wanted too). This Rejoice team is an enigma to me. Putting up 30+ is always impressive even against air so they had my attention there. Catoosa did manage to get 2 in on them tho and they face a much more refined offensive team this week in Verdi. This game should tell us a lot more about both teams. I can't wait to see the final.
As usual all in fun and EPO guys. Safe travels and best of luck to everyone this coming weekend! Go Hornets!
