Wow, I’m flabbergasted. That post almost brought me to tears. Thank you so much BA Black!!

I’ve said it several times, but I’m in awe of the BA teams this season. First, just having 5 teams is incredible, and then 4 of them made it to the playoffs. BA is in the finals in both A and AA playoffs. BA Black is in the finals for the 2nd straight year, so you’re obviously doing a lot of things right. Your coaches, parents, and fans have a right to be proud.

On the cancer front, I’m doing OK. God has been good to me. I’m in pretty good shape. Especially for someone who got my original prognosis. My chemo treatments lasted 9 hours ... just suffice it to say they aren’t fun. I can walk. My pride won’t let me ride an electric cart in a store so I’m stubborn.  Enough of that topic.

Back to kids and sports. I love them both. Ironically I never coached football. Just baseball, soccer, and basketball. I refereed HS and AAU basketball for years. I’m a fan of almost all sports.... they teach so much. How to compete. How to win and lose graciously. You learn that life isn’t always fair. It teaches teamwork. I could go on.....

I also am a fan of the INFC. It’s a really good league. I have 2 grandsons who have been involved it it. Obviously one of them is in the 4th grade and plays for Edmond. The other is an “alum” and played for 2 years in the INFC. He’s in the 8th grade but the INFC experience helped prepare him for school ball. He was the QB on his team in Edmond, and is a pretty good basketball player... he was excited to tell me tonight he grabbed the rim for the first time in basketball practice today. That’s why I know a lot of these 4th graders will be HS stars in a few years.

Good luck in the championship game on Saturday. Jenks Maroon is good team and I expect a close game. It’s a game between 2 very deserving teams.
