Hello all,
Chad, Edmond Assistant Coach,
Being new to the Oklahoma Youth Football Scene (Army guy, moved in from NY), this is my first experience with a league forum. I suspected there would be quite a bit of "bad" associated with this ability to have instant availability to other teams, administrators and parents ... especially, immediately following a tense game. There is a bunch of bad but there has also been a lot of good coming from supportive coaches and parents. I am growing to like this forum.
A question I would like to throw out there would be: What player(s) have you been most impressed by this year? Most physically talented is the easiest thing to point out but does not have to be to be mentioned here, as some of these kids are two years older than others and should obviously be more talented, but maybe someone who impressed you from an improvement from last year or an outstanding instance of sportsmanship.
I have not seen very many teams so my sample size is smaller than most but for conversation's sake; from my view the following players have stood out to me:
Stillwater's #44 is a tough player, Defensively, his ball skills are better than average and he played with some grit to him
Our #50 is is right up there with anyone I have seen so far, very disruptive and hard-nosed and just a great character kid
Union Silver's #10 jumped out to me on film, we have not played them but he seemed to run fast and did not go down very easily, on tape
Yukon's #7 looks good on tape, he seems like someone which can take it to the house on any play if given some space
Piedmont's #1 was a good player, my kid (#11) told me he was a good player and "was a good leader for his team"
Claremore's #10 was good, I thought we contained him pretty well, but I have seen other games where he was difficult to deal with
Owasso Black had a DE (I think #44) he dominated our LOS, he was a handful for us ... he was strong and played with pretty good leverage
Those are the players which have stood out to me ... what are your thoughts?
