I can assure you the brackets were not manipulated to screw the Spartans. Don't know how long you have been in the INFC (I am assuming at least 4 years) but every year something similar happens in at least one of the grades. Yeah it sucks for Bixby but sometimes the bracket falls good for a club or team and sometimes falls bad. Been on both sides.

yeah, i get it...no, this is year two for us (not everyone else; just us). the thing that got my motor running was last year we were told it was random drawing of seeds (1's first, then 2's, etc.) to fill the brackets, and then this year was told it was that way again, but then later told after the brackets were posted it's the same bracket from last year.

the confusion came with the fact that we were misinformed from the beginning. if the brackets and seeding structure is the same from year to year, then like you said, sometimes it works favorably, and other times not so favorably.

agreed. this year (in 6th grade) and last year (in 5th grade), the brackets placed the two clearly best teams on the same side of the bracket (assuming both those teams win this weekend), when ideally you'd like them on opposite sides to meet in the championship.  But when they use the same brackets as previous years, you can't say it's intentional, because the league doesn't know who is going to be in what division and who is going to win those divisions.  sure they can guess, but nothing is a given.

That being said, there was a scenario a couple years ago where the league placed two bixby teams in the same division, which raised eyebrows (as the normal protocol is to not place teams from the same program in the same division, unless completely unavoidable).  Those two teams were clearly the best two teams in that division which was essentially a guarantee those teams would be on opposite sides of the bracket.  But that's none of my business.   ;)

The point of having the brackets set at time of divisions is a great idea,  especially when the OSSAA  does it for all state high schools. And since we play by those OSSAA  rules (with the exception of a few modifications),  that should be something to consider moving forward. Just a thought...
