First impressions from scrimmages....?
« on: August 12, 2018, 12:11:36 pm »
Bartlesville looked improved from last year.  Had some troubles with shotgun snaps but that'll improve as the year goes on.  Had a nice long pass play against Jenks Maroon for a TD

BA White looks to be shaping up to be tougher than last year.  Good solid running with downfield blocking.  Defense is GOOD!

Jenks Maroon looks good.  Solid D and Solid O

Union Black's defense was making some good plays and penetration on the line.  Didn't get to see the O

BK's offense will score some points this year.  Lots of motion in the backfield that will confuse defenses.  Didn't see them on D.

First Impressions had to bribe my center with free McDonald's for good snaps in the second series Lol

Sand Springs Black had some good size, Nice little running back

Sapulpa Had alot of kids. But the did a good job getting them all in and getting some work in

Sequoyah should be ok in AA. They run some nice pass plays.

Jenks White had a nice Defense. #22 The 9 technique had great football knowledge and was a stud!!.

Bixby blue seems to have a new running back ontop of #20 and he was #18 and he is all of 89.9 lbs lol very good rb. And that de #13 is a monster good luck blocking him. I got bixby blue being a playoff team this year for sure.

Usilver was very good with rb and speed. that defense is full speed ahead everyplay. Another playoff team for me

BaSilver qb was awesome he was running lose everywhere with little blocking in my opinion.

South Tulsa very new team but they did a good job running plays. and were very big upfront.

Claremore nice little salty team. That coach does a great job with those kids keeping them hyped up. cool to see.

We were the only 4th grade block at the old Union field.

BA Black - These guys look the part. Primed and ready to make another run at the championship. Sounds like the may not be much separation between them and BA White. Very impressive group of kids and coaches.

LC - Absolutely no offense to any other AA teams but, there is no question in my mind that these guys are walking away with the championship this year. Studs all around and excellent coaching. Wr have never lined up against an LC team that wasn't class acts.

Pryor- Better watch out for these guys. My buddy ol' J Doug has these guys primed and ready to play. I seen a bunch of athletes and great coaching adjustments. Whoever lines up across the field from them is going to have a fight on their hands.

Union Red- These guys added a few to this year's team that makes them drastically different. The little guy at running back is hard to find and hard to bring down. Deceptively strong. Low center of gravity and good speed. Our boys were a bit tired and definitely need to spend the week working on wrapping up but, I can take nothing away from those guys. Coaches have got them looking good this year. Line was firing off the ball and getting blocks on the 2nd level.

Coweta Black- Great coaches. Great speed. These guys lack size but, not speed and heart. They will pop you in the mouth. One of the fastest , if not the fastest back in our grade. I look for them to be a problem for anyone that is lining up against them.

All in all we had a great time yesterday. Anxious to get back to work tomorrow.

Few takeaways from McAlester...
Catoosa ran a nice little pass play on us and has some speed on O...
McAlester has a nice, tough defense with a big defensive front...
Coweta White struggled to move the ball on us, but should compete in AA...
We went 5/0 on TDs vs Allowed...
We did not scrimmage BA Platinum, but they were flying around pretty good from what I saw...

McAlester’s defense was tough, good size and speed. Didn’t see their offense.

Coweta White played hard and will complete in the AA. Didn’t see their defense.

Owasso has a couple tough players on the D-line, and a LB that was flying around
making plays. Didn’t see their offense.

Catoosa has good speed and a RB that doesn’t have size but plays big. They aren’t afraid to throw. Didn’t see their defense.

We didn’t go against Bixby Red but did get to watch some of their defense. They were tough everyone was struggling to gain any yards.

BA Platinum has a lot of work to do. We’re just trying to get lined up correctly.
