No problem!
Am I wrong in thinking that if we're going to do a Playoffs in Mighty Mites then we should keep scores and records? I know it's just Mighty Mites, but what's the sense in not keeping scores and records if we go to a playoffs anyways? We have the divisions already so what's the big deal? Might as well do a playoffs with divisional leaders. It's to protect the kids from emotional stress I guess, but they have no clue their records. The only time I have been asked this year about the outcome of a ball game by one of my kids was when we won by 7 TD's and one of my boys asked me "Did we win that game?" Honestly, they don't care. They care about their friends and they care about being funny to the cheerleaders.
So, as a coach, what I like most about this league is it forces you to coach your group of kids up to compete against other coaches. Your coaching against some of the best coaches in youth football and if you let up coaching these buys then you fall behind. So why not track scores and why not create a more legitimate playoffs system than a hat draw? Instead of taking the top 3 from each division like 3rd - 6th, why not take the top 5 from each division then send the rest to the post season tournament where they can play more games and get better against other teams with the same skill set? This would allow a good size playoff and the extra 2 teams from each division would allow those teams that may have started off slow or had a tough division to get in as well.
Just my 2 cents, but I think recording records and scores in 1st-2nd grade is a good idea and it keeps teams, coaches, parents, and fans more engaged. Also, creates a more fair playoff system than drawing out of a hat where the toughest teams could play each other first round, or one side of the bracket gets stacked, and it would stop the accusations that occur every year of any club deliberately getting their teams put on a certain side of the bracket because it's harder or easier.
