Pick'ems Week 1!!
« on: August 20, 2019, 12:12:57 pm »
Well I went ahead and took the time to look each game up. Not to fun, very tedious for sure. Anyways, here is this weeks pick'ems. Don't take anything personal as it's all entertainment and also don't be a moron and bet on little league games as people have been in trouble for it before. Everyone get involved, the message boards are fun if we can build a good group on here to make it fun. Good Luck in all the games this week and don't forget Copy, Edit, Pick, and Paste.

Excuse all my typos and anything that sounds inappropriate as that wasn't the intention

Division 1

Broken Arrow Gold (0-0) @ Choctaw Gold (0-0) – I’m not sure which Choctaw Team is the A team, but I’m sure that one will be much better than the other especially if the club president allows A team Tryout’s and I heard he is the HC of one of these as well, but hey that’s just coming from the Rumor Wheel and only time will tell. BA Gold had some snap issues during scrimmages, but once they get them down they will be very very tough as they have a RB that will take it to the house at any time. They also have some big boys on the line that once they get a feel for the game a little better then they will be too much to deal with. Choctaw should be lucky to have BA Gold the first of the year instead of like Catoosa Green who has them at the end of their schedule. I’m taking BA Gold here representing Division 3!!

Choctaw Blue (0-0) @ Bixby Blue (0-0) – Bixby Blue I remember have some edge pressure and they had at least 2 kids that could flow to the ball really well, I believe one was a LB and he was like a hawk with his eyes on that ball. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see them on Offense. Choctaw A or Choctaw B? Yes, I will be on that all season long until I get a coach to confirm because I have a very good source with this information and just so you know it’s strictly prohibited for a Club to have a direct influence on the “Draft”. No stacking teams, that’s what separates this league from tournament team leagues. This is why this is the biggest league in Oklahoma. They develop players with their structure and rules. Your recruiting grounds are already phenomenal so why set up A team and B team just get your coach’s and draft like the rest. I will take a wild guess and go with Bixby Blue

Bixby Red (0-0) @ Yukon (0-0) – Bixby Red seems to be a young team and it will take them a bit to develop so I’m going to do a blind pick here and pick Yukon. I know nothing about Yukon, maybe we will learn a little this week. Yukon

Norman (0-0) @ TYAA Blue (0-0) – Both teams are unknowns, but until TYAA Blue is knocked off I won’t pick against them unless it’s a Catoosa Team. We all know they will flow to the ball well and they will get to the endzone fast as this program has done every year in the past.  TYAA Blue

Division 2

Bixby Red (0-0) @ Yukon (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 1 WRITE UP

Berryhill (0-0) @ Broken Arrow White (0-0) – I got a chance to watch BA White scrimmage Catoosa Black and I know they have some speed on that team. Berryhill might be able to push upfront, but until I see if they have speed or not then I’ll have to go with BA White.

TYAA White (0-0) @ Coweta (0-0) – TYAA White………………I expect Coweta to have a good team as they usually do, but TYAA wins championships.

Glenpool White (0-0) @ Broken Arrow Black (0-0) – Glenpool White is young….young kids have a harder time brain processing as fast as older kids, but I know my team is in the same boat. Just have to be more detailed in their assigned tasks. Broken Arrow Black does a have a couple speedy backs that once they get loose they can fly. I haven’t had a chance to see Glenpool White in person so this game could obviously go either way, but I know speed means a lot in Mighty Mites and I’m going to have to go with what I know. Broken Arrow Black

Hilldale (0-0) @ Sand Springs (0-0) – I think this will be a good game. I don’t know if Sand Springs has the speed to keep up with Hilldales RB, but it’s Mighty Mites and all that is required is a turnover or two. I know Sand Springs Defense flows well to the ball and I know Hilldale has a seasoned coach leading the way with a RB that is probably a top 3-5 RB in this grade. He looked like he was at the 60 lb mark as well. Taking Hilldale here, definitely could be a game of the week. GAME OF THE WEEK #3

Sequoyah (0-0) @ Muskogee Green (0-0) – Well Sequoyah seems young and still trying to figure it. I would like to say you never know, but unfortunately I have seen Muskogee Green and they do have a fast team that flows well on defense and runs fast on offense. Muskogee Green

TYAA Red (0-0) @ Sapulpa (0-0) – If I only knew anything about TYAA Teams I would say this is the Game of The Week!! This is a tough pick for me, but still yet I can’t back out on my words now. Sapulpa is big, fast, disciplined, and flows well. Sapulpa prove me wrong here, but I have to stick with the Branded Name of TYAA. TYAA Red GAME OF THE WEEK #1

TYAA Black (0-0) @ Wagoner (0-0) – Wagoner has a good all around team just as we all would expect out of this club, but TYAA as you know we don’t pick against them until they give us a reason…….TYAA Black

Division 3

Bartlesville (0-0) @ Catoosa Black (0-0) – Catoosa Black boys are ready to play, they have been putting the work in and are ready to start competing. I’m going to call this a low scoring game and Catoosa Black wins. Catoosa Black

Broken Arrow Gold (0-0) @ Choctaw Gold (0-0) – SEE DIVISION ONE WRITE UP

Glenpool Blue (0-0) @ Catoosa Green (0-0) – Well I would say this should be a good game, but my boys have been too worried about their Turtles that they named after the Ninja Turtles. If I don’t make a competition out of a drill then they get bored and if we can’t have a fun game at the end of practice they don’t want to practice lol Glenpool, like a well oiled machine coming to town. They can run the ball, pass the ball, and GO ON A 7 COUNT! Defensively they can get in your backfield fast, flow sideline to sideline, and contain their outsides. They’re a tough team, but they’re not my Flower Picking, Butterfly Chasing, Dandelion Blowing lil Indians . Catoosa Green

Lincoln Christian (0-0) @ Collinsville (0-0) – Well here is another tough match up. Collinsville is big and they’re ahead of most teams. Like a Glenpool Blue without all the passing going on. Lincoln is suppose to be tough on both sides of the ball so I’m sure they have some play makers. Not sure which one to go to here……flip a coin……I’ll give the big boys a go. Collinsville GAME OF THE WEEK #2

Owasso (0-0) @ Muskogee White (0-0) – Ok, a few things missing here. First, Owasso is missing about 2-3 other Owasso Teams they normally have so I assume this team is big. Next, Owasso seems to be missing their schedule as I had to find them under Muskogees schedule. Lastly, they’re missing players to match Muskogees playmakers. Taking Muskogee White

Skiatook (0-0) @ Verdigris (0-0) – Haven’t seen Verdigris, but I have Seen Skiatook without their QB. Heard a couple good things about the QB and I know their RB can run the ball very well. They have a defensive player that flows to the football it’s a popsicle on a hot sunny day. Going to have to go with the Bulldogs here. Skiatook

Norman (0-0) @ TYAA Blue (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 1 WRITE UP

Division 4

Glenpool White (0-0) @ Broken Arrow Black (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

Bartlesville (0-0) @ Catoosa Black (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 3 WRITE UP

Claremore (0-0) @ Broken Arrow Platinum (0-0) – I don’t know much about either team. Broken Arrow Platinum I know had an aggressive kid that may have played left corner or outside LB and he was making tackles at the scrimmages. Claremore usually has a solid team, but I don’t know anything about them this year. Blind Pick Claremore

Owasso (0-0) @ Muskogee (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 3 WRITE UP

Sequoyah (0-0) @ Muskogee Green (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

TYAA Black (0-0) @ Wagoner (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

Skiatook (0-0) @ Verdigris (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 3 WRITE UP

Division 5

Berryhill (0-0) @ Broken Arrow White (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

Choctaw Blue (0-0) @ Bixby Blue (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 1 WRITE UP

Claremore (0-0) @ Broken Arrow Platinum (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 4 WRITE UP

Glenpool Blue (0-0) @ Catoosa Green (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 3 WRITE UP

Lincoln Christian (0-0) @ Collinsville (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 3 WRITE UP

Hilldale (0-0) @ Sand Springs (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

TYAA Red (0-0) @ Sapulpa (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

TYAA White (0-0) @ Coweta (0-0) – SEE DIVISION 2 WRITE UP

Once again, Good Luck this weekend and everyone have safe travels and play the game safe or one day we might not have a game to play.

Enjoy,

Division 3

Bartlesville (0-0) @ Catoosa Black (0-0) – Have not seen Catoosa Black so this one is a coin flip, The Ville looked decent during week one

Broken Arrow Gold (0-0) @ Choctaw Gold (0-0) – Should be a great game BA Gold is quick everywhere and plays hard, great coaching and very aggressive.  Have not seen Choctaw Gold but heard good things about them.  Going with BA

Glenpool Blue (0-0) @ Catoosa Green (0-0) – Both looked really good this past weekend, should be a close game going with my boys in Blue by 7

Lincoln Christian (0-0) @ Collinsville (0-0) – The LC has been looking really good, big and quick. Going LC

Owasso (0-0) @ Muskogee White (0-0) –  Owasso has some small kids and looks like a building year for them, one big kid who was in the backfield that is no way under 60lbs, have to see if he makes weight.  Owasso plays with hearts of a lion.  Muskogee= quick!  Muskogee

Skiatook (0-0) @ Verdigris (0-0) – Haven’t seen Verdigris, but I have Seen Skiatook without and with their QB. No way #85 will make the weight "maybe surprise me".  Just be ready for #85 to blow your backfield up, like a train on rails.  Skiatook

Norman (0-0) @ TYAA Blue (0-0) – Have not seen either team but TYAA, because its TYAA!

Besides TYAA? Come on now, can't say all of the organizations stack teams then say "besides us".

I see your point though, but I think you would be surprised how many organizations actually follow the rule. For the organization to have try-outs for A Team and B Team is more than bending the rule. Still no confirmation this is or isn't what happens there, but usually if it stays quiet then its a good bet. There should be no team stacking or open it up to everyone, but I'm not for team stacking as I think it would just make the numbers drop tremendously.

I can’t speak for first grad, but I coach 2nd and 5th grade in Norman, and I can assure you that choctaw doesn’t  do that in second and 5th.  In fact, I think they redraft their teams every year to get the teams evened up yearly.  Not positive on the yearly draft, but that’s what I’ve heard and their teams are pretty dang even on talent each year.

I happen to be the Coordinator for Choctaw and the head coach of the Gold team. To say we have tryouts has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Yes I make my coaches redraft every team every year and we always have that kid or 2 on one team that makes them better than the others but so does everyone else.
My son happens to be a running back on my team and we have another kid that is a really talented kid that is not scared to hit and our blue team has the biggest lineman in our organization. I'm not sure where all the out of town stuff came from because this is the first year that has ever been a question. I have been a part of Choctaw now for 4 years as I was the 6th Grade Gold coach last year.
Both my teams will be good this year if we can get a snap and a hand off just like most other first grade teams.
To your "inside" person please tell them Thank You for keeping people talking about Choctaw. I always say I love taking up space in peoples heads for free.

There he is!

Coach MAC

Well it is what I heard and it is something that was discussed by myself and a couple other coaches as well. I don’t know how you handle your organization, I do know you have always been about the kids on the forum and handled yourself well here. To have recruiting grounds like you have I wouldn’t think that you would need to do this, but I have heard it before and coaches and organizations have used their Combines as Try outs instead of a time for their coaches to use to pick their kids for draft.

I’m not the only one that has heard this though, just so your aware, but I just happen to ask the question. Good Luck this season and if your first grade group turns out like your 6th Grade group did then you should have a couple solid teams, or at least one........jk jk 😂 All your teams have been good and I have heard great things about your coaching. Good Luck

HA! Yes you got me out of the dark hole to comment. I like most coaches read this thing from a far and never comment. BUUUTTTT When my integrity is questioned I feel I have to step out. You have seen and followed my teams long enough I would hope that my past would cover for some stupid rumor that you heard.
I will say my team is going to be good and my Blue team will as well. My Blue coach is a dad that stepped up July 16th the night of our first football camp at the high school and has never coached football before. He played and his kid is an athlete so he stepped up when no one else would. His team is going to be just fine this season when they all learn what football is really about. With that being said I have a team with 2 kids that played as kindergartners last season. One being my son and we were only beat by stillwater. My son was the tailback last year and we did very well so this year shouldn't be much different. He is also the youngest of 3 that all play ball. My oldest is being recruited by OU and I played professionally for 7 years. Saying that to show football is in our house much like other kids but Rook (my son) is not a bad player at all. The other kid is a lineman and he also has older brothers so he is aggressive and loves to here us get loud for a pancake block. So we will be a good team and may even look better than our Blue team early but I promise they will be a force by season end. One of my assistant coaches is our high school head coach and his son is also on our team so he has had a football in his hand since he was born. That helps when your building players in first grade.

So please tell all your coaches and or Rumor Bird that they are crazy and wrong as hell. My combine was for all ages at the same time and the high school coaches ran it while we all walked around and watched kids. If coordinators are not doing a combine before the draft they are dumb. I know most programs do not draft every year a full new team but we do. My coaches know I challenge them to coach kids just as much as we challenge kids to play. I also make my coaches of same grade practice together. They stretch together and do individual together so If you watched my practice fields you wouldn't know what coaches coach what color for most the practice. Then at the end they usually scrimmage but ALL coaches coach every kid not just their team.

Again I am excited I will have you picking against me most the season but I hope you have someone to film and can see our teams play because if we get a snap and a hand-off we will be hard to handle. I hope to say that about every age that has a Choctaw uniform on because we do things the right way and we have ALWAYS had kids first in our organization.
