1st Grade MM Championship Game
« on: November 07, 2017, 09:07:42 pm »
Claremore Zebras

                vs

South Tulsa Defenders

I deleted my previous comment....

All i am going to say about this game is if both teams come with their A game it will be a show that you will not want to miss.

Alot of respect and hats off to both teams, coaches and parents. It takes alot of dedication from everyone involved just to be able to play. To have 2 teams that are now 13-0 playing against one another says alot.

All i am going to say is see everyone on saturday!!!

Team                   W-L           PF          PA
1. South Tulsa      13-0        431       24
2. Claremore        13-0         319      52

Claremore is a very well coached and disciplined team. They run well and tackle well.

Haven’t seen the defenders since scrimmages but felt they were the real deal then.

Defenders 21
Claremore 6

Congrats to both squads.. Haven't been able to see South Tulsa, but have heard and read great things. Having scrimmaged and played Claremore.... they are a solid , well rounded football team.  I am looking forward to a great 1st grade championship game, Claremore will find a way.

Best of luck to both teams. Should be quite the shootout! Claremore............watch the run to the outside and the Defenders love to drain every second off the clock that they can. That's about all I am going to say about that. It was a fun season and I expect this game to be quite the battle.
i know nothing about South Tulsa, haven't seen them play, so take this with a grain of salt, but usually teams that love to "drain every second off the clock" end up in fairly low scoring games.  From what I've seen in their scores, it seems like they score fast and score often.  again, you may be correct and i may be wrong, but that's what i've noticed in my experience.  jmo

Good luck to both teams!

No matter what competition you play MM to NFL, usually the team that has the best time of possession usually wins.  Especially if you play another team that likes to go fast when calling plays.  "Draining" the clock, meaning using all the time the refs allow depending on how the games go is all about coaching. I use to coach a MM team and playing TYAA we would use all the clock we could to keep them from scoring very fast in the playoffs!

South Tulsa does a great job of managing the clock when they are suppose to AND they did last night.  Doesn't matter how you play, what matters is the outcome!  When it comes to the playoffs, all records are out the window, it doesnt matter!  Its playoffs baby!!!

Great job to all the teams participating. I guess I'm a little confused . I thought clock management was an aspect of football. If it's a issue the refs will throw the flag. Let's not take away from the hard work all these kids , coaches and parents put in! Should be a great game sat !

My thoughts exactly

South Tulsa has scored 431 points which is 35.9 points a game.  Doesn't sound like "draining" the clock to me

I wasn't taking anything away from them at all. What I meant was they use their time wisely. And they do score fast! Quite the little athletes they have on that team and the coaches do a good job. I wasn't attacking anyone. Best of luck to both teams!

After watching them last night for the first time I am sure our coaches are going to come out ready to unleash the Zebras.

Like i said it will be a great game. Win or lose I feel this little team has accomplished alot.

South Tulsa just has too much speed on defense.  The only chance to score on them is to catch them when they blitz #44 and their corners.
