Rule Questions
« on: August 16, 2017, 01:05:05 pm »
Hey All...had a couple questions that I have heard rumors about and thought I'd ask.  This is for 6th Grade.

1. 6th Grade has no On-Side Kicks?  Is this correct?
2. Can the Nose Tackle line up directly over the Center in a 0 technique?
3. Do all offensive linemen need to be in a 3-point stance?  Or can they be set in a 2 point?

Sorry, newbie coach here...want to get it straight from the refs mouth!

Not a red but know your answers.

1. Yes you can onside kick... You just can't do the kick where it hits the ground right off the tee and it pops high in the air. Forgot what its called.

2. Yes you can align in a 0 tech.

3. Only players that have to have hand on ground before snap is 2 strippers. 0 and 1 strippers can be in 2 point on the Los if you want.

Great answers OCD.

It is called the POP Up kick.  Not sure I have even seen it in High School, Normally just college or pros.
Just the one where it is kicked directly in the ground to bounce way up in the air.  Not the normal onside where it bounces twice and then bounces up in the air, that one is still legal.
(they will make that one illegal next year :)
This rule is going to effect practically no one in INFC because most youth kickers can't do it.  I am sure now that I said that - there will be someone say, "My kicker can do it!"

Mighty Mite is the only place where you cannot line up in a 0 technique.

And correct on who has to be in a 3 or 4 point stance.

So in 4th grade where center is protected in shotgun the nose guard can line up in a 0 technique? I would think it would be difficult for the nose to hit the gap from 0 and not charge through the center before ball makes contact with QB or RB. Great answers OCD!
