Kickoff Spacing
« on: August 17, 2017, 04:44:44 pm »
In the past, we have been told by officials that we must have 5 players evenly spaced on each side of the kicker. However, the rule book only states that you must evenly space your players starting 5 yards from the sideline.

If we kickoff from something other than the mid-point, can we have 2-4 players on one side of the kicker and 6-8 on the other as long as they were evenly spaced?

BruinBlue - what we have here on the kickoff is two rules combined.  INFC says that the players will be evenly spaced across the field and the NFHS which INFC follows as well, says you must have at least 4 players on each side of the kicker.
So we will continue to follow both rules.  As long as the players are not bunched up or you have less than 4 on either side of the kicker you should be fine.

Thank you. That explains it.
