Kicking From the Hash
« on: October 13, 2021, 12:15:43 pm »
I know a similar question has been asked, but it didn't address my question clearly.

If kicking from the hash, can you have 5 players (6 counting the kicker) between the hash on the short side and the sideline? The rule makes it appear that you can only have 2-3, maybe 4, players between the hash on the short side and the sideline in order for all 11 players to be equally spaced across the entire field starting within 5 yards from the sideline.

Article 10: Kick-Offs: Players on the kicking team must be equally spaced across the entire field starting within 5 yards of the sideline for safety purposes.

4 players is all your are going to be able to squeeze into the short side of the field and still have the players spaced out evenly across the field.  So 4 on the short side, 6 on the side side and then the kicker in the middle.

Thank you for clarifying. I've seen this a few times this year, would you mind reiterating this rule with the refs?
