Holding???
« on: September 24, 2022, 07:49:43 pm »
So I e been told by just about every ref this season that if the play is going in the opposite direction of the person getting held that it’s a no call?? I get that at the 1-4th grade level there is a lot of holding. But for the offensive line to hold a player, even if that player is more than able to run the ball carrier down why the no call? Teams have figured out that if they just run opposite the good player or players and blatantly hold that player they can get away with it. Just doesn’t seem right to me…

Coach if you would like to send me some video I will certainly review it to see what you are talking about.
Please let me know the number of the player you are talking about and I will review.  You can send the whole game if you would like.
I will say a lot of times with a 3 person crew, we are not necessarily looking backside to call that hold - obviously depending on the play.

I appreciate that. The ref in question said to me that I could ask the ref that was heading up that game. He told me he would say the same thing and that he was the most senior ref. I will check on some video and get back with you!
