Game Clock
« on: September 17, 2022, 03:35:58 pm »
Why are the referees not keeping a play clock? They are giving teams 60-90 seconds??? What happened to 25 seconds. You question them on it and they wanna get an aggressive attitude about it and say ““what does it matter, your winning 14-0” When a team has 24+ players it makes it really hard to get 12 plays for your kids. Something has to be done about this and referees need to do there job and keep a play clock. It’s not that hard.

The play clock starts when the ref puts the ball into play. 25 seconds for 11 man. 35 seconds for MM. again it starts once the official blows the whistle and chucks.

Walker32 - let me know what game location and time you are talking about and I will check with them.
I did speak extensively about the pace of play in the newsletter I sent out to the officials this week - I will remind them again this week that it is a point of emphasis.

Bobby can you tell us what was addressed in the newsletter? I know you’re a busy man and don’t want to bombard you with complaints if it is already being addressed.

The game I am speaking of was the 12;30 game at Owasso HS. I don’t blame teams for taking advantage of this, I blame the officials for not even making an attempt to keep a play clock. They have to understand that there job is to keep control and enforce rules. This group had no interest in doing either. If they aren’t gonna keep a consistent play clock then do away with the minimum play rule. It makes it tough to get plays when officials manage a game in this manner.
