This is not intended to be a complaint at all, but more of an informative post. But I have noticed within the playoff games, different refs have different interpretations to some of the rules. This is only what I have experienced. For example:
Game 1 they stopped the clock in the 4th quarter for a 1 minute warning. Game 2 different refs stopped the clock for 2 minute warning.
Game 1 during the last minute of the game, they did not stop the clock when the ball carrier ran out of bounce. However, another game (same grade - different refs) they did stop the clock when the ball carrier ran out of bounce during the last 2 minutes.
Game 1, we had a false-start penalty with around 20 seconds left in the half (2nd quarter, close to end-zone), and they didn't rush to set the ball, and clock ran out before they set the ball. They said there was nothing they could do. However, in another game (same grade - different refs) stopped the clock on the same penalty, and as soon as the ball was set, they started the clock. Again, this was at the end of the 2nd quarter.
Game 1, the refs warned the opposing teams defensive coach of being within 15 yards coaching when we were on the ball and set. But game 2, the opposing teams defensive coach was allowed to be on the line moving his players around as we broke the huddle and was never 15-yard back on any play.
Game 1, the refs stopped play to warn us about our DB's. Said we had to be 3-yards back and could not move once the offence was set (which is fine, that's what we do). However, game 2, the opposing teams DB was allowed to predict the count and run to the line. Most plays he was 1 yard from the line of scrimmage, advancing when the ball was snapped. Those refs never said that it was allowed, but never game them a warning. This was done almost every play.
Again, I'm not complaining because these guys have done great all year! I also know that these guys start at the MM level, and are learning some as they go. However, at this point in the year I think they should be a little more on the same page. I’m sure other coaches have other examples, but these are just the ones that I have witnessed.
